PaulPaul Newsome has worked in both unionized and non-union environments since 1977. He holds a B.A. (English) and an M.B.A. (Personnel & Industrial Relations) from the University of Manitoba. He has served in a variety of labour relations and human resources generalist capacities in the health care, transportation and manufacturing sectors. Prior to the formation of Newsome & Dheilly he was a senior human resource executive for one of the Fortune 500 companies, and was responsible for both Canadian and U.S. human resource matters.

His experience includes:

Feature Handling labour relations matters such as contract interpretations, grievances, and discipline at the working level.
Feature Leading strategic planning for collective bargaining at the National level, including the identification and prioritization of issues, the costing of economic issues and the language.
Feature Analyzing, planning and participating in the transfer of employees from one Crown Corporation to another.
Feature Working with supervisors, managers and senior managers in all areas of general human resource management such as recruitment, staffing, compensation, training, organization design and downsizing as well as health and safety.
Feature Designing and delivering training programs.
Feature Assisting in the design and installation of a highly successful employee counseling program in concert with management, unions and the University of Manitoba.



RogerRoger Dheilly has worked in the labour relations milieu since the late 1970's for both a local labour organization and thereafter for the United Food & Commercial Workers, Local 832. He spent some 10 years with this organization first as a Union Representative and then as Secretary-Treasurer.

His experience includes:

Feature Working within the health care, manufacturing, and retail sectors.
Feature Handling hundreds of grievances stemming from a wide variety of issues within diversified workplace settings.
Feature Acting as a nominee to Arbitration Boards.
Feature Preparation of witnesses and presenting cases before arbitrators, arbitration boards or Labour Boards.
Feature Acting as chief spokesperson in numerous collective bargaining sessions for both labour as well as management.
Feature Organizing and working through labour disputes.
Feature Conducting training sessions in labour relations matters.
Feature Assisting in the design and installation of a highly successful employee counseling program in concert with management, unions and the University of Manitoba.
